A substantial private house and estate close to the village of Heveningham, Suffolk.
The job
As Houseman you will assist the family with the care of their home, completing a variety of tasks including light maintenance, floor polishing, pressure washing, security, driving, vehicle care, and household inventory. You will manage subcontractors and oversee two visiting housekeepers. You'll also hold responsibility for the care of the families two dogs, a beagle and a cocker spaniel. The family are in residence 2-3 days per week and often leave the dogs at the home in your care, so a willingness to take this responsibility even on your days off (or willing to take the dogs with you on adventures!) is paramount.
What you'll need
Proven experience working in a private household, superyacht, or similar environment
A positive, can-do attitude where nothing is too much trouble
Stable employment history with proven longevity with employers
Obtainable references from recent employers
Willingness to undertake a DBS check
An enjoyment of the countryside and rural living
Happy working with dogs (spaniel and beagle) and taking responsibility for their care on days off
Non-smoker
Full clean UK driving licence
Where you'll be based
The estate is located in close to the village of Heveningham, approx. 8 miles from Halesworth.
What you'll receive
- £38,000 - £40,000 per annum
- Permanent employment c.40 hours per week over 5 days, with two days off during the week
- Accommodation provided in the form of a beautiful barn conversion close to the main house
